The Amulet

hamsaThe amulet is one of the objects with the largest weight in human history. Since ancient times the amulet used all of the people as a cure and sense of luck. from the ancient Egyptian gods that carried the amulet on their necks until today the amulet grants its bearer a sense of protection, for example: the Turks in Turkey do not separate from their amulet even for a moment in the battle, sumo wrestler will carry his amulet in the knot of his diaper on his crotch. Pregnant women in Arab countries do not separate for a moment during the entire pregnancy.

Throughout history were amulets made improvement, in some cases they turned to a jewelry, history’s most famous amulet is the beetle (Pharaoh’s beetle), dedicated icon to the god Ra (the god of the sun). By Egyptian belief dung beetle was a symbol to the formation of the universe and divinity, and according to the Kabbalah icon of infinity. The Egyptian Cross “Anach” in Hebrew is called “Anach”, has a sacred ring at the top with a very little like the beetle. It also represented the power of eternal life, In Christianity; the cross took the central place as an amulet.

At the beginning of medieval amulets made by the influence of the Kabbalah included the names of angels or names of God. Even the Christian mystics wrote Hebrew letters in the amulets, all under the influence of Kabbalah
Amulets usually divided into two major categories: Talisman which is a jewel, and a talisman based on writing, virtues appeared later were and were considered power givers or problem solvers to those who carried them. For example: in ancient Egypt, they believed that carrying Snake sloughing has a medicinal characters. In a number of streams in Judaism domestic peace and fertility is attributed the mezuzah. At certain periods Jews used to tattoo amulets on their bodies. This costume was prohibited by the Torah claiming the tattoo is part of the magic ritual of other nations. Most amulets includes Bible verses, angels names and God names, but to write an amulet the Kabbalah people need to know the combination of saints, and God’s names.

There are amulets that contain the evoking text out of the ancient Kabbalah. Most Talismans are written with a combination of letters or symbols, according to the problem or the application the person. This costume continues till today, when the mystic serves as liaison between the super sensual world and a regular person.

The end use of an amulet
Since many approached me with the question of what to do with the amulet if it is not longer in use or they are not interested in it anymore? I do not recommend throwing the amulet, there are amulets containing verses from the Torah or special blessings that include the names his family or the names of saints and angels and throwing the amulet to the trash might bring bad luck to the amulet holder. It must be buried in the ground preferably in a cemetery or near a cemetery. Amulets containing verses from the Torah should be treated as Torah scrolls, and should be archived or buried. Many of the people I met who threw the amulet into the trash brought trouble on themselves and a general lack of success. Since many are those who cannot get near a cemetery to bury their amulets, you can send me the amulet, and I’ll bury it for you, twice a month I make burial of amulets, for those who are interested you are welcome to send me the amulet for –Yitzhak Mizrahi p.o.box 553 Hod Hasharon 45 105
